Children reading books

Pre-K/UPK

In pre-kindergarten our emergent curriculum and interest based learning continues with more focus on school readiness, including following a more structured daily schedule, attending large group instruction for longer periods, increasing independence with dressing for the outdoors, using the bathroom and eating at the meal table, developing conflict resolution skills (with adults stepping in less to solve problems) and informal and formal assessment of shape, color, letter, sound and number recognition. We also offer Universal Pre K at all locations through the Webster, Rush Henrietta and Greece school districts.

Emergent Curriculum

Emergent curriculum is a fancy term for something we hold very important. After an idea or interest area emerges from a group of children, it then evolves into a curriculum where teachers and even parents can participate in the direction it travels. It’s when children learn by exploring what they find socially relevant, intellectually stimulating and personally interesting, guided by professionals who understand this special process.
